The Ahtna Heritage Foundation was created to assist Ahtna shareholders in meeting their educational goals. Our scholarship, The Walter Charley Memorial Scholarship, funds Ahtna shareholders who are either full or part-time students. Funding for the Walter Charley Memorial Scholarship is generously provided by Ahtna, Incorporated.

Scholarship Eligibility:

Applicant must be an Ahtna Shareholder

Applicant must be a high school graduate or have a GED
-
Applicant must be accepted to an accredited college, university or vocational school

Or applicant must be accepted in a program specializing in a recognized area of field of study

Applicant must be registered as a part or full time student in college, vocational school or recognized program specializing in an accepted area or field of study
Application Package Must Include:

Completed Application (please type or print legibly in ink)

Letter of Acceptance from the school you plan to attend

Documentation proving you are an Ahtna shareholder

One page letter describing your personal goals

Official Transcript from the last school you attended (must be an original)

Two (2) letters of recommendation
New Applicants:

Provide official proof of enrollment and registration listing the courses you are registered for (including credit hours)
Returning Applicants:

Provide completed application (make sure application is signed)

Provide official transcripts or other official verification showing completion of classes from the last semester you attended. Your documentation must show that you maintained a minimum 2.00 GPA.

Please be advised: Late or Incomplete Applications WILL NOT be processed. It is not necessary to fax, email, express mail, UPS, FedEx or send your application by any other special delivery. Make sure the post office postmarks (cancels your stamp) on or before the deadline.

Postmark Deadlines:
REVIEW, APPROVAL AND AWARD PROCESS: Completed and on-time applications will be reviewed by the Foundation’s Scholarship Committee. Successful applicants will be notified of scholarship award by letter. Please allow 6-8 weeks, after the deadline, for the scholarship checks to be mailed to the applicant’s institution of higher learning.
From time to time, the Ahtna Heritage Foundation may request additional information from applicants to use for organizational planning, our annual reporting to the Ahtna Shareholders or when needed for the foundation’s fundraising efforts. Applicant participation in information requests is appreciated. Please be sure to include an email address when completing a scholarship application.
